What we do
At Capstone Vision, we begin by recognising where the child or young person is coming from:
Two examples:
A thirteen-year-old boy talking about his experience of being taken away from his birth family and placed in care, said it was "like I got hit by an earthquake".
Chloe, a six-year-old, who was separated from her two older sisters when she was taken into care, would frequently make a house with the building blocks in the play box and then smash it down.
Children who come into care have usually suffered trauma – if for no other reason than because they have been removed from their birth family. But usually there is other trauma too, caused by neglect or abuse. Our purpose at Capstone Vision is to help the child or young person recover from their trauma and develop a life that is full and satisfying.
In other words, we help them to rebuild the house of their lives.
